How did you fare in High School as a JW?

for me it was rather painful.

it was like pressing your nose against the candy store window, knowing that you can look, but you cannot partake.

How much did you plagiarize your talks?

when i actually really cared, i was an awesome speaker.

i'm not bragging, i actually was terrified of giving talks for so long and all, but apparantly it came off pretty well.

when i was 20 years old, they were giving me parts that were supposed to be only for elders per the km.

Once I was giving a demonstration with another sister and I pretty much copied scriptures and everything out of one of the watchtowers. Turned it into conversation format and everyone praised me on it

Isn't it hypocritical for the Governing Body to feature a biochemist in Awake! magazine but at the same time condemn higher education?

the january awake!

has an entire article about a woman, a molecular biochemist, who became a witness, and yet the watchtower leaders condemn and blacklist any of their members who get a college education.

i couldn't stop thinking about this as i read the article.

Do JWs really notice significant doctrinal change?

all of these threads about the 'new light' regarding the fds has got me wondering.

as ex-jws, we've trained ourselves to notice such things.

we tend to treat them as if they're of great significance, even convey a certain level of optimism that it will actually wake some up, make some think, even lead to some sort of mass revolution within the ranks.. do rank-and-file jws really see any significance, or is it just wishful thinking?

I'm gonna be completely honest, I didn't even notice changes until coming to this board. It's pretty terrrifying knowing things like that are happening right under people's noses and they are not even realizing it.

Well no he is not associated with the Jw in any way,shape,or form. I'm planning on hanging out with him within the next few days. He already knows im a JW, I just don't want to bring out the big news too soon about me wanting to leave and all and it overwhelms him.

I got baptized a while back and I realized that I want out of the organization. For some reason the doubts came lurking back again. I know this religion is messed up because a person should not be having creeping doubts surface up like this. I have not posted or logged on to this site in a very long time. I went back and looked at some old posts of mine and realized I am in the same mental state as I was years ago. Anyway the point of this post is that I am a little concerned with what to do with myself. I know for sure I'm planning on leaving the organization. But the only problem is I am becoming attracted to this guy who is considered to be a "worldly" lol. I really want this relationship to work we both want to be in a serious relationship with each other. I am confused as should I explain to him what I am going through? I don't want to get hurt and I don't want him to get hurt either. I am just so confused on what to do. Has anyone been in a situation similiar to this? How did you deal with it? Did your partner understand or just decide this was too much to handle?

What Perplexes You About Jehovah's Witnesses?

i'll tell you what i just can't get.. how the hell can anyone cry wolf as many times as the witnesses have without huge repercussions afterward?

i don't get it.. "the end is sooooooooo sooooooooooo close and you better get back to the organization for protection before it is too late!!!".

how they can not see that a religion that constantly changes teachings proves its not from god, i utterly despise the saying "new light". And that if you go back and read articles from like 40 years ago your commiting apostacy

How did you dispose of all those excess magazines?

we were always told not to throw away literature, so just what did we do with it all?

i know that i would sneak it into the bin for recycling quite regularly.

my parents kept all the magazines for over 20 years in ritz boxes in a cupboard, they all went yellow and smelt wierd.
